Sunday: what set out to be a few mile walk stretched out to be 11.5 miles. Surprising since my wife didn't want to do the 6 mile loop we have done often so I suggested another logging road we could walk to and go down it for a ways. We had been a short ways down the road before but was curious what was beyond, the thing is we kept going. Seven and a half miles later we came out on another county road leaving us 4 miles to go to get back home. It made for a grand loop and we saw plenty of deer, hawks, and turkey vultures.
There was no one to bother us on the logging roads as they usually keep them locked up. They do have a habit of opening a some during hunting season though, which is nice and appreciated by local hunters. The timberlands are privately owned, but managed by a company in town. There is a lot of cutting going on with these private lands since environmentalist have been able to shut down a good deal of the forest service lands.
