Laura Lynn Coakley, 37 from Lebanon, Oregon dies in Corvallis when the car she was riding in hit a tree. The driver and one of the other two passenger are in critical condition. I didn't know Laura very much but our paths have crossed and is part of a wider circle of friends. Divorced, she was raising her children and known to be a quiet person, she is also an attractive person.
The time that stands out was in the past year when we where out at a restuarant, there was seven us. One fellow in the group who was up visiting from AZ and I were chatting about a book he lent me (One Nation Under Gods), he seems to be more of a fundamental Christian, and I a hopeful agnostic. Laura listening turned to me when there was break in the conversation and in a low voice said she was thinking of leaving religion, but couldn't give up on a God. She was interested in some books about recovering from religion that I mentioned in the conversation earlier. I hope there is a God waiting with open arms for her and her teenage kids cope.
My thoughts go out to you Laura and to the circle of friends we know who are left to mourn.
